Using scene lingo

Scene phrases:

-Rad
-Stellar
-The sex
-Pwn

Do NOT use these words:
-Lyke
-Gawd
-Sexi

It's so annoying when scene kids talk like Paris Hilton. You should talk like Dani Gore or Dahvie Vanity.

Here's some tips.

Breakout artists you should know by now

Ladyhawke, Hey Monday, Four Year Strong, Go Audio, Yelle, Breathe Electric, Valencia, Dr. Acula, and Son of Dork.

SO '08 ARTISTS:
Katy Perry (I love Katy but I'm so tired of hearing I Kissed a Girl and Hot n' Cold) , Lil John, Tyga (Sorry dude, but your 15 minutes need to hurry up and be over), Fergie, Lady Gaga (Does anyone know any of her songs besides Just Dance?), and Jessica Simpson (country now, seriously???).

Scene in Spring

As we all know, in 2008, the "big" colors were fuschia, purple, gold, yellow, and green. But what colors are big in 'o9, you might ask? According to www.fashiontrendsetter.com, the big colors in Spring 2009 will be fuschia, salmon, turqouise, seafoam, yellow, olive, lavender, green, grey, and rose. They also say the prominent colors (they colors used most) will be lavender, celery, blush, and beige. So what clothes should you buy to fit these colors?

Totes are going to be HUGE in 2009. I already got mine. It's an Andy Warhol Campbell tomato soup tote. Sooo cute. Other cute totes that are in style this year: http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/nodePage.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028561&bmUID=1231783768506

Belts are another thing that's going to be popular. Especially at your waist instead of in your belt loops.

According to fashion experts, the key looks of '09 will be...Drum roll please...See-through a sheer fabrics, fringed clothing, one shouldered tops, Grecian dresses, butterflies, jewel encrested clothing, stomachs showing, and fairy tale inspired clothing.

My ideas for trends are: vintage swim suits (like from the '40s and '50s), tank tops, rockabilly, mod a line dresses, the color gold, and jumper skirts.

According to scene and emo websites, they say the trends of 2009 will be checker pattens, striped hoodies, cat ear hoodies, leg warmers, over knee socks, spiders, comic inspired clothing, trilby hats/fedoras, animal print skinny jeans, and vintage t-shirts.

So '08 trends to stay away from this year: Skinny jeans, Twilight (LET IT DIE ALREADY!), and Razrs (I admit I used to have one, but they are SOOO old!).

How to be scene at church

Ok, so a lot of scene kids ARE religious and need to know how to look scene and still be modest enough for church. Here are a coupe of basic outfits that you can get ideas from.

For extra scene points, wear lots of cute jewelry to customize your outift. Since I doubt you'd wanna wear Hello Kitty and dinosaurs to church, try something like an anchor or a spider.

DON'T FORGET: You don't have to buy these exact outfits. They're great for ideas. You can also change up the looks by using different jewelry or wearing bows or headbands in your hair.

Scene in Winter

Scene style in winter is very indie. Scene kids generally wear a lot of skinny jeans, boots, sneakers, hoodies, and puffy coats. If you live in a warmer place, try Converse, skate shoes, or slip on Vans paired with a hoodie, whereas, if you live in a colder place, try boots with a puffy coat, parka, or bomber jacket.

For hoodies, try Bleeding Star for Boys, and Jessica Louise for Girls.

Puffy coats and bomber jackets are very common for scensters in the winter, both boys and girls alike. Make sure it's cute on you though, because scene kids are all about image.

Boots are very common for girls in the winter. They are generally faux suede, black, and optionally have a faux fur trim.

Skinny jeans can be found almost anywhere. You can find them even at your local mall. The only problem is finding the perfect pair for you.
Here's some ideas:

http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028504&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442187937&bmUID=1228241314582

http://shop.pacsun.com/guys/jeans/drakes-skinniest/Drakes-Skinniest-Black-Jack/index.pro

While girls can wear different colored jeans such as pink and purple, it's best if guys stick to colors such as black and grey. If guys really like the attention of having colored skinny jeans, though, turqouise is a great choice. They allow the guy to be colorful without people thinking he's a cross dresser. http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028504&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442177603&bmUID=1228241524253

Now for accessories. Scene kids generally wear fingerless gloves, bandanas, scarfs, belts, and the occasional hat. Try not to wear hats too often, though. It covers up your beutiful scene hair that you worked so hard on.

For gloves, even though you can pick them up almost anywhere, scene kids usually buy black fingerless gloves at Hot Topic. Why? Because they're freaking cute. Striped gloves are really in season this year.

http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028588&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442191811&bmUID=1228241748501

http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028588&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442164108&bmUID=1228241839967

Scene kids also really like black gloves with a skeleton design on them.

Bandanas and scarfs are usually black and either grey or white.

Desert scarfs (bandanas) are common. http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028592&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442188256&bmUID=1228242019610

Scene kids also like striped scarfs. http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028592&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442188409&bmUID=1228242079253

T-shirts can be found anywhere online or at your mall. They generally have robots, dinosaurs, spiders, Hello Kitty, Invader ZIM, band names, et cetera.

Just a hint, scensters have really been wearing a lot of purple lately. Go out there and have fun being scene!
